Gautam Mazumdar is a Mumbai-based contemporary Indian artist, painter, visual storyteller and urban sketcher whose creative practice brings together memory, emotion, human experience, urban life, imagination and visual communication. His artistic identity is expressed through Kreative on Kanvas, an independent creative platform where painting, sketching, abstraction and visual storytelling come together.
Born on 22 June 1971, Mazumdar followed an unconventional path into full-time art. Before dedicating himself completely to artistic practice, he spent more than 25 years in advertising, broadcasting, media, marketing and visual communication.
That professional experience continues to influence the way he sees and creates.
Advertising taught him how an image attracts attention, how colour changes mood and how composition can communicate without words.
Fine art gave him something more personal—
the freedom to tell his own story.
Education & Creative Foundation
Gautam Mazumdar received his early education at Our Lady of Lourdes School, Kalyan, before completing a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Mumbai.
His interest in communication and performance also led him to pursue training in Announcing, Broadcasting, Compering and Dubbing.
To further strengthen his visual-art foundation, he completed a one-year Elementary Certificate Course at Thane College of Arts.
His creative journey was therefore shaped by two complementary worlds:
